Why do I always want to read Lovecraft when it gets cold? I think it’s a left over from my first year of university when it got so cold in winter that you could see your breath in the flat, so I regularly put three jumpers on, rolled myself up in my duvet and read Lovecraft stories and War & Peace (but that and At the Mountains of Madness only served to make me feel colder) most of the day.
Re: running - I can now run about two and a half miles without approaching death although I do have to do a bit of asthmatic huffing afterwards.
